Juniors Needed!

The Echelon Santa Barbara cycling club needs local junior riders/racers for there junior program to actualy work. Curently the number of juniors on the team has droped to zero. So if you know of any kids 10-18 years old that might be interested in giving bike racing a try this club is a great way to start. They have a great coach Rory O’Reilly, my dad, and all of the club really suports the juniors, but they need juniors to suport.

Some great riders have come out of their program winning 7 Jr. national championships, many more Jr. National championship medals, and State Championship Titles. One rider, Adam Duvendeck, even became an Olympian in 2004 when he competed in the Team Sprint on the track.

So if anyone is interested in or knows someone that is interested in trying cycling leave me a coment and I’ll get back to you.

Back Home

It was great today to get to come home today. It was a little hard waking up at 5am to get to the airport but other than the travel the day has been good because Austin and I almost missed our flight due to a huge line for customs that took 1 1/2 hours to get thru, and we were onnnnlllllyyyyyy there 2 hours before the flight would leave. So we ran as fast as sleepy cyclists could run to get to the gate. Other than that my day at home has been pretty uneventful and now I’m looking forward to sleeping in my own bed again.

Indoor racing gets canceled? It can happen

Well it might sound bizare but the 4th day of racing at the Burnaby 6 day got canceled because of weather. Tyler Farrar was the one to call it when he said how funny it would be if racing at an indoor velodrome would get canceled because of weather.

As it turns out just the thing happened. Since it had snowed there was a lot of snow pressing down on the roof of the inflatable dome causing it to sink in some. So they had to in crease the pressure some but it wasn’t enoughto get the snow off. Then the racing got canceled so everyone had to evacuate the building so that the presure could be increased a lot more so  the snow could slide off.

All in all everyone had already been warmed up and ready to go even though there was a ton of snow on the driveway a most of the cars were sliping and sliding all over. So all of us got soaked again when we walked down to our cars on the other side of the parking lot.

It Snowed

Today I woke up and there was snow outside, it’s not going to last long because now it’s raining but it has really been getting cold the last few days. That also means that the conditoins inside the track are freezing as I never warmed up during the Points race last night.
